Franklin County Commissioners are set to approve a unique and vital piece of an economic development incentive package bringing 500 new jobs and the first-of-its-kind IBM Client Center for Advanced Analytics to the Columbus area.

Recognizing the efforts of Franklin County’s public and non-profit partners at confronting food security -- and the smart investment of federal funds to expand opportunities for growing, purchasing, and consuming more fresh, healthier foods -- Franklin County has been awarded the 2013 Audrey Nelson Community Development Achievement honor from the National Community Development Association.

This morning, Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady was selected by his peers – Commissioners Marilyn Brown and Paula Brooks - to lead the Commission as Board President during 2013.

Emphasizing how Franklin County’s investments serve children and vulnerable residents, protect communities and the environment, and foster job creation and economic growth, County Commissioners unanimously approved the 2013 Franklin County Budget at their last meeting -- and last vote -- of the 2012 calendar year.

Attracting elected leaders and officials from the more than 3,000 counties across the nation to learn how good government partnerships have led to growth and economic rebound in Central Ohio, the Franklin County Commissioners will host the 2017 Annual Conference of the National Association of Counties (NACo).

Fully realizing the impact of $41 million in state funding reductions in Franklin County next year along with flat revenues compared with 2012, continued unfunded mandates and no growth in real estate property tax revenues, Franklin County Administrator Don Brown presented commissioners with a 2013 Budget today which provides for essential public safety and safety net services for the County’s 36 agencies and departments.

IMAGINE is an exhibition, coordinated by Franklin County Commissioner Marilyn Brown and the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education (OAAE)’s Community Arts Education program (formerly administered by the Greater Columbus Arts Council), of artists ages 5-21, who will use recycled, upcycled, or repurposed materials in a display of three-dimensional and kinetic sculptures and installations that invite viewers to let the mind wander and the soul wonder.

Today, a bipartisan team of Franklin County Elected Officials, led by Commissioner Marilyn Brown, announced their support of Issue #56, the Franklin County Senior Options Levy.

The Franklin County Commissioners, Treasurer and Prosecutor have come together to find a way to fund housing counseling programs that were previously included in federal HUD budget allocations, but were left out this year and aren’t included in next year’s proposed budget.
