Kaye Dickson, Director of Franklin County Animal Care and Control and the County Dog Shelter has resigned her position, effective March 8th, 2016.

In light of the tragic events unfolding in Columbus’ Sister City Tainan, Taiwan, which is at the epicenter of a magnitude 6.4 earthquake that occurred last Saturday, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners has partnered with the City of Columbus and Greater Columbus Sister Cities to support Tainan.

This morning, Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady was chosen to serve as 2016 board president for the Franklin County Board of Commissioners.

This morning, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners unanimously passed the county’s 2016 budget, which adheres closely to the commissioners’ core principles of Responsive Government, Community Safety, Economic Development, Supportive Human Services, and Good Stewardship of the Environment.

Kicking off Franklin County’s hearings on the 2016 budget, today, County Administrator Kenneth Wilson introduced a Recommended Budget which focuses on the future of the County and laying the foundation for the provision of effective and efficient government services to meet the growing demands for service.

Previously recognized for the transparency of Franklin County’s website, County Commissioners in partnership with the County Auditor are again enhancing the public’s access to information through a recent electronic record project dubbed Citizen Transparency, which makes millions of financial records available on-line in a safe, secure and easily searchable system.

Today, during the Columbus Urban League’s 2015 Empowerment Day at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the Franklin County Board of Commissioners was recognized and awarded the Honda Financial Empowerment Award for its dedication to workforce development and financial education efforts
