This week, the commissioners have begun a $55,472 partnership with L.E.A.D. With Purpose to help send 25 young women of color to summer camp. L.E.A.D With Purpose works to cultivate Leadership, Empowerment, Adaptability, and Purpose in Black girls aged 12 to 16, and the funding for this grant will come from the county’s portion of funding from the American Rescue Plan. The students will learn about etiquette and advocacy, self-care and self-esteem, fitness, entrepreneurship, and mindfulness, and get to meet and hear from successful guest speakers as well as participating in college and career preparatory activities.
