JOHN O’GRADY ELECTED BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PRESIDENT FOR 2020

Franklin County Commissioner John O’Grady was elected this morning by a unanimous vote of the three-member Board of Commissioners to serve as president for 2020.  Commissioner O’Grady was first elected to the board in 2008.  He previously served as president in 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2017, so this is his third term of office and his fifth stint as board president.

Each year, the commissioners select one of their own to serve as president of the board, overseeing the body’s weekly General Session and Briefing meetings.  The board president also serves as spokesperson for the Board of Commissioners at community events, meetings, and during media interviews.

“I want to thank my colleagues for the opportunity to serve as board president in 2020,” said O’Grady.  “We’ve just closed out another very successful year in Franklin County, and I am eagerly looking forward to everything we have on tap for 2020.  It’s a pleasure to get to work every day with my colleagues, the county administrator, and the rest of our team as we strive to make our community a better and better place to build a business or raise a family.”

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners meets in General Session each Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. in the new Commissioners’ Hearing Room on the first floor of the county Judicial Services Building at 369 S. High Street.  The board’s weekly Briefing meeting is at 9:00 a.m. on the 26th floor
