COUNTY, CITY CONTINUE COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVALENCE, VICTIM RESOURCES
The Franklin County Commissioners have regularly supported efforts to support families and victims of domestic violence through county grants, and pass-through federal Justice Assistance Program and Violence Against Women grants, more than $71,000 this year, and also provides approximately $300,000 in funding through marriage license fees as provisioned by Ohio Law.
Today, in an on-going recognition of October as Domestic Violence Awareness month, domestic violence advocates from the Columbus City Attorney’s Office will be on-hand in the Franklin County Government Center lobby and outside the cafeteria on the 16th floor. Visitors to the complex are encouraged to stop by either location and consider a donation to assist victims of domestic violence in our community.
For every $1.00 donated a ribbon in honor or in memory of someone who has experienced domestic violence will be displayed in the Government Center lobby (373 S. High St.) throughout the month of October.
