This week is Small Business Week across the nation, a tradition begun in 1963 to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s entrepreneurs and small-business owners. More than half of all US residents own or work for a small business, and Central Ohio’s strong community of small-business owners is one of the reasons that our region has weathered the recent Great Recession better than many other parts of the country.
The Franklin County Commissioners want every week to be Small Business Week in Franklin County, and actively encourage new and expanding enterprises with initiatives like the Franklin Fund small business loan program, RISE - the Retail Incubation Supporting Entrepreneurs program, and ongoing support of the Economic and Community Development Institute and the Community Capital Development Corporation.
