Today, Franklin County Commissioners announced that they will hold three separate public hearings during the month of September to discuss a change to the County’s Sales and Use Tax rate. The announcement comes after the completion of an external review of county finances by a 9-member panel which recognized that Franklin County is well-managed. The Panel recommended the County take action to protect its double-Triple A credit rating and address the impact of the State’s drastic cuts in the Local Government Fund. While the Panel did not evaluate or make recommendations on how to meet future and pressing community needs, Commissioners recognize that Franklin County – the fastest growing County in the state - has increasing needs and remain committed to ensuring the economic growth and security of the entire Franklin County community.
The hearings are open to the public. Testimony may be provided in person during the hearings or submitted to the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners, 373 South High Street, 26th Floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.
