Community gardens promote healthy, active lifestyles, and create new, productive re-uses of underutilized land. Community gardens also beautify our community while simultaneously providing access to fresh, local, nutritious foods.
Franklin County is proud to offer two gardens - International Harvest Garden located at 1919 Frank Road, and Mound Street located in the heart of downtown Columbus. Here gardeners can grow their own fruits and vegetables, mingle with and learn from other gardeners, and be a part of a growing national movement toward making healthy and organically grown food available for all. Community Gardening provides opportunities for intergenerational and cross-cultural connections. It is an opportunity to bring people together, in a unique setting, where they can share their expertise with one another. Gardening also offers a great opportunity to teach our children about food and agriculture.
